The fourth Captain America film will release on May 3, 2024 as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 5 and officially has a title, Captain America: New World Order.
This title was previously speculated due to the release of Marvel European trademark filings, but became official on Saturday night when Kevin Feige, President at Marvel Studios and Chief Creative Officer at Marvel, took the stage at San Diego Comic-Con.
New World Order will see Anthony Mackie‘s Sam Wilson finally taking the reigns of Captain America from Chis Evans‘ Steve Rogers as seen in The Falcon and The Winter Solider on Disney+. Captain America 4 will be the second to last film in Phase 5.
It was recently revealed by the Hollywood Reporter, Julius Onah will direct the upcoming MCU film. The Nigerian-American filmmaker is known for his work on The Cloverfield Paradox, Luce and more. The film will be written by Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson. Spellman and Musson are familiar with the Mackie as they worked on the Disney+ series.
Captain America: New World Order also received a title logo treatment as seen in the Phase 5 lineup graphic.
New World Order will be joined by Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania (February 23, 2023), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (May 5, 2023), The Marvels (July 28, 2023), Blade (November 3, 2023), and Thunderbolts (July 26, 2024) as Phase 5 of the MCU.
