The 2021 five-issue miniseries, Eve from BOOM! Studios has been optioned for television or film according to series creators.
First released in May 2021, the series was co-created by writer Victor LaValle (Destroyer) and artist Ario Anindito (Star Wars The High Republic). The final issue of the miniseries hit shelves on September 2021, but returned for a second volume consisting of five issues in October titled Eve: Children of the Moon.
The news of the property being optioned was confirmed by LaValle via Twitter when asked a question by @MultipleMigzs, “Is it true Eve from BOOM! Studios has or is getting optioned?” LaValle answered with “It is true. There’s an amazing team hard at work to make it a reality.”
In the 2021 miniseries, the ice caps melted, most of humanity was lost to the hidden disease that was released. Now, a mysterious girl named Eve has awoken in secret and must deal with a world that’s nothing like the virtual reality she was raised in. In order to save her real father, Eve must embark on a deadly quest across the country, but she has no idea of the threats that await her – or the price she will pay to restore life to a dying planet…
Children of the Moon picks up after the completion of the first volume. Eve seemingly saved the world once already, embarking on a perilous quest to protect what remained of humanity after a deadly virus outbreak… but the story doesn’t end there! Eve, her sister, and Wexler face new challenges, and a darkness from the past.
Now getting a comic series optioned for the small or big screen doesn’t always mean something will get made, but fans of the series hope one day to see something made.
The third issue of Children of the Moon hits local comic shops on December 21, 2022.
