Eyes of Wakanda, the latest Marvel Studios animated series and the first television series of the Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase Six is set to stream on Disney+ on August 1.
Eyes of Wakanda follows the adventures of brave Wakandan warriors throughout history. In this globe-trotting adventure, the heroes must carry-out dangerous missions to retrieve Vibranium artifacts from the enemies of Wakanda. They are the Hatut Zaraze and this is their story.
The series was development by Ryan Coogler (who also served as a producer) and directed by Todd Harris. The writing team consisted of Geoffrey Thorne (Ultimate Spider-Man, Avengers Assemble), Marc Bernardin (Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra), and Matthew Chauncey (What If…?, Ms. Marvel). The show is based on Wakanda which was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, first appearing in comics in Fantastic Four #52 (July 1966).
The animated series stars Winnie Harlow as Noni, Cress Williams as the Lion, Patricia Belcher, Larry Herron, Adam Gold, Lynn Whitfield, Jacques Colimon, Jona Xiao, Isaac Robinson-Smith, Gary Anthony Williams, Zeke Alton, Steve Toussaint, and Anika Noni Rose. Additionally, the character Iron Fist will appear in the series.
Eyes of Wakanda features a hand-painted animation style inspired by contemporary African-American artists such as Ernie Barnes, as well as illustrator Dean Cornwell; Barnes’ style served as inspiration for the characters’ exaggerated proportions in the series. Hesham Nazih composed the score for the series, after previously working on the Marvel Studios series Moon Knight.
The series releases in full on August 1, 2025 on Disney+, consisting of four episodes. It is the 15th television series in the MCU and the first series of Phase Six.
