Review Overview

Written by Todd McFarlane (Spawn) and beautifully illustrated by Szymon Kudranski (Something Epic, Blood Commandment), Sam and Twitch: Case Files promised to deliver murder, intrigue, and deception like never before and they did exactly that.

Let’s talk about the artwork first because it is truly phenomenal. Szymon Kudranski’s illustrations are so detailed and lifelike that you feel like you are right there in the gritty streets alongside Sam and Twitch. The way he captures emotions and expressions adds depth to the characters and really brings the story to life. Kudranski’s ability to blend realism with a classic comic book style is unmatched in the industry right now.

Moving on to the story itself, Todd McFarlane does not disappoint. Known for his dark and complex storytelling in Spawn, McFarlane brings that same level of depth to Sam and Twitch: Case Files. The plot is full of twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat, trying to piece together the puzzle alongside our favorite detectives. The dialogue is sharp, the pacing is perfect, and each issue leaves you craving more.

Sam and Twitch as characters have always been fan favorites in the Spawn universe, and this series gives them a chance to shine even brighter. Their dynamic as partners is both humorous and heartfelt, providing moments of levity amidst all the darkness. Whether they are solving a gruesome murder or bantering back and forth in their office, Sam and Twitch’s chemistry jumps off the page.

With its stunning artwork, gripping storyline, and unforgettable characters, Sam and Twitch: Case Files has everything you could want in a noir thriller. Trust us when we say that once you start reading, you won’t be able to put it down.

Case Files is a stellar addition to the world of Spawn. Todd McFarlane’s writing combined with Szymon Kudranski’s artwork creates a perfect blend of suspense, drama, and action that will leave readers eagerly awaiting each new issue.

Sam and Twitch: Case Files #1 hit comic book stores on March 27, 2024 from Image Comics.
