While the year of television and movies was a bit different this year due to the strikes, it was still a banger of a year. With 2023 just about over we are ready to countdown our favorite TV shows of the year.
This list is in no particular order and features TV shows that really made us happy this year. While the list will feature surprises to some and likely not feature a show you feel is worth adding, this is our favorite shows of the year.
Twisted Metal (Honorable Mention)
Twisted Metal is based on the classic PlayStation game series, is a high-octane action comedy about a motor-mouthed outsider offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of a badass axe-wielding car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.

Loki: Season 2 (Honorable Mention)
The second season of the American television series Loki, based on Marvel Comics featuring the character of the same name, sees Loki working with Mobius M. Mobius, Hunter B-15, and other members of the Time Variance Authority to navigate the multiverse in order to find Sylvie, Ravonna Renslayer, and Miss Minutes.

The Bear: Season 2
A young chef from the fine dining world comes home to Chicago to run his family sandwich shop after a heartbreaking death in his family. A world away from what he’s used to, Carmy must balance the soul-crushing realities of small business ownership, his strong-willed and recalcitrant kitchen staff and his strained familial relationships, all while grappling with the impact of his brother’s suicide. As Carmy fights to transform both the shop and himself, he works alongside a rough-around-the-edges kitchen crew that ultimately reveals itself as his chosen family.

Ted Lasso: Season 3
Nate is on a trajectory, career-wise…From Season 1 as kitman, then he became a coach, and now he’s the coach of West Ham. Jason is so very generous as a producer and creator. He gives all of the characters a storyline. I think that’s why are so full…There so many storylines; he wants every character to have an arc.

The Last of Us
After a global pandemic destroys civilization, a hardened survivor takes charge of a 14-year-old girl who may be humanity’s last hope.
The first season of The Last of Us is available on MAX. Season two debuts in 2025.
Shrinking
A grieving therapist starts to tell his clients exactly what he thinks. Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge changes to people’s lives – including his own.
Shrinking is available to stream on Apple TV+.
Silo
In a ruined and toxic future, a community exists in a giant underground silo that plunges hundreds of stories deep; there, people live in a society full of regulations they believe are meant to protect them.

Succession: Season 4
The sale of Waystar Royco to tech visionary Lukas Matsson looms ever closer, provoking angst and division among the Roys in the fourth and final season of Jesse Armstrong’s Emmy-winning series. As the siblings anticipate the prospect of this merger, the ensuing power struggle finds them grappling with what their lives will look like after the deal.

The Night Agent
