In recent days a rumor has emerged that Cal Kestis, from the video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, will be getting his own spin-off Disney+ series.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order released in 2019 and Kestis became a fan favorite in the Star Wars Universe almost instantly. Although he is set to be featured in the upcoming 2023 sequel video game, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, he will also see screen time on tv.
Cameron Monaghan (Shameless, Gotham) voiced Kestis in Fallen Order and will reprise the role in Survivor is also rumored to have been cast to play the character once again in this live action show.
His popularity among Star Wars fans makes this a no brainer for Disney and Lucasfilms. In addition to the success of Fallen Order and the likely success of Survivor, Disney+ has released some popular tv shows in the Star Wars Universe as well, including The Mandalorian, Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi and the animated Bad Batch. Adding Kestis to the mix is a cocktail for success.
The original thought would be an animated show in the likeness of Star Wars: The Clone Wars or Bad Batch, but this Cal Kestis show is rumored to be a live action series. Monaghan is known for both voice acting, but also live action acting as well.
With the live action part, will this show tie-into the Obi-Wan Kenobi show which recently aired on Disney+? Interesting to see how this plays out.
Of course this is all speculation and rumors, originally started by Kristian Harloff. He even said that this could all be taken with a grain of salt due to no official word from the house of mouse and Lucasfilm.
