Review Overview

In a galaxy far, far away, the adventure never ends. Star Wars has captured the hearts of fans young and old for generations. George Mann‘s latest addition to the Star Wars book series, Quest for the Hidden City, takes readers on a thrilling journey through hyperspace, mysterious planets, and epic battles.

Star Wars: Quest for the Hidden CityQuest for the Hidden City follows Jedi Knight Silandra Sho and her Padawan, Rooper Nitani, as they embark on a mission to find a missing Pathfinder team on the planet Gloam. The team’s communications droid is found drifting in space with a cryptic message, leading Silandra and Rooper into uncharted territory filled with mythical monsters and ancient secrets. As they unravel the mystery of Gloam’s haunted past, they must navigate treacherous terrain and face formidable foes to uncover the hidden city.

George Mann’s writing style is both engaging and descriptive, bringing the Star Wars universe to life in vivid detail. From daring space battles to tense encounters with alien creatures, every page is filled with excitement and suspense. The story is well-paced and while written for middle grade readers, the novel really holds up for adults.

One of the highlights of Quest for the Hidden City is its focus on friendship and teamwork, which is wonderful in middle grade novels. Silandra and Rooper must rely on each other’s strengths to overcome challenges and confront their fears. Their bond grows stronger throughout the book as they face danger together, showcasing themes of loyalty and trust that resonate with readers of all ages. The characters are well-developed and relatable, making it easy to root for them as they navigate perilous situations.

Star Wars fans looking for a new adventure set in a galaxy far, far away, Quest for the Hidden City is a great place to start. George Mann has crafted an exciting story that captures the essence of what makes Star Wars so beloved: epic battles, unlikely heroes, and unexpected twists.

Star Wars: Quest for the Hidden City by George Mann is a thrilling addition to the Star Wars The High Republic book series that captivates readers of all ages. With its great plot, well-written characters, and perfectly-paced narrative, this book delivers everything fans love about the franchise while offering new adventures in unexplored corners of the galaxy.

While nothing ever lives up to the George Lucas films from the late-1970s, early-1980s, what Mann and other authors have been able to do with The High Republic is worth take a chance on.

Star Wars: Quest for the Hidden City is the first book (chronological) in The High Republic – Quest of the Jedi phase and is available at bookstores everywhere. Check out the Libro.fm audiobook narrated by Subhadra Newton and support local bookstores.
