May The 4th Be With You! As we celebrate Star Wars Week here on Capes and Tights, Adam and Justin re-watched the prequel films, starting with Episode I: The Phantom Menace!
The Phantom Menace was released on May 19, 1999 to the tune of $1.027 billion on a $115 million budget. The film was written and directed by the great George Lucas with Rick McCallum on board to produce.
The first Star Wars movie in 16 years starred Liam Neeson as Qui-Gon Jinn, Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Natalie Portman as Queen Padmé Amidala, Jake Lloyd as Anakin Skywalker, Ahmed Best as Jar Jar Binks, Ian McDiarmid as Senator Palpatine / Darth Sidious, Anthony Daniels as the voice of C-3PO, Kenny Baker as R2-D2, Pernilla August as Shmi Skywalker, and Frank Oz as the voice of Yoda.
