Review Overview

What happens when a group of super-powered individuals goes missing for fifteen years? Journalist Donovan Price embarks on a mission to find out what happened to the Indigo Children, a group of exceptionally gifted children. Indigo Children is a sci-fi/mystery comic series from the writing talent of Curt Pires and Rockwell White at the helm with Alex Diotto and Dee Cunniffe artwork.

The story takes place fifteen years after the disappearance of the Indigo Children. Donovan Price, a determined journalist, sets out to find out what happened to these children. The search for the truth about the Indigo Children leads Donovan down a dangerous path that results in a world-altering chain of events. Pires and White’s writing is brilliant in its pacing, serving up one intense scene after the other. The storytelling is a perfect blend of superpowers, mystery, and sci-fi that will keep readers engaged from start to finish.

The design and layout of the series are not only visually striking, but also intricately detailed. Alex Diotto and Dee Cunniffe’s artwork is captivating, with each panel and page designed to give readers a sense of awe at the Indigo Children’s powers. The series is a true masterpiece of graphic storytelling, not only in terms of the aesthetics but also with bountiful storytelling.

One of the unique aspects of Indigo Children is the length of each issue. In this series, the story needs more pages to breathe and fully develop. Each issue is an extra-long tale, allowing readers to lose themselves in the world of the Indigo Children. The story moves at a brisk pace, and the extra pages never feel like filler content. Rather, they’re essential to the storytelling and provide a more in-depth understanding of the plot and character developments.

Another remarkable feature is the excellent balance that the creators maintain between the mystery and the powerful abilities of the Indigo Children while keeping the narrative grounded. The series provides a new take on the concepts of sacrifice and responsibility with a refreshing blend of science fiction and mystery that melds together in suspenseful yet exciting ways.

Indigo Children is a must-read. Curt Pires’ writing talent and Rockwell White’s creative input into the series make it an ultimate source of excitement and capture the interest of any comic book enthusiast. The artwork by Alex Diotto and Dee Cunniffe makes it a visually stunning masterpiece. The series provides an exciting new take on sci-fi and mystery, and the creators’ unique take truly sets it apart.

The collected edition of Indigo Children hits bookstores everywhere on November 21, 2023 and local comic shops on November 22 from Image Comics.
