Review Overview

The Walking Dead franchise has captivated audiences for years with its thrilling and suspenseful storyline. The Ones Who Live, a spinoff of the original series, follows the love story of Rick and Michonne kept apart by an unstoppable power, trying to find each other. The Ones Who Live is a treat for longtime franchise fans.

The Ones Who Live is easily the best spin-off that has come from The Walking Dead franchise. Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira deliver powerful performances that have not skipped a beat since being away from the original series. The chemistry between the two leads adds depth and emotion to an already gripping storyline. Each episode leaves viewers on the edge of their seats, eagerly awaiting what will happen next.

The balance between past and present in The Ones Who Live is expertly done, providing viewers with a deeper understanding of the characters and their motivations. The flashbacks add layers to the story, allowing us to see how far these characters have come since the outbreak began. The attention to detail in both timelines is commendable and adds richness to the overall narrative.

Fans of The Walking Dead will be delighted to see Andrew Lincoln back on screen as Rick Grimes. His return brings a sense of nostalgia and familiarity, reminding us why we fell in love with this world in the first place. While The Ones Who Live may not be the future of The Walking Dead franchise, it serves as a reminder of what made the original series so compelling.

This spinoff offers a thrilling and impactful experience that keeps viewers hooked from start to finish. The action sequences are well-executed, keeping audiences on their toes with each walker encounter. The character development is also top-notch, allowing us to connect with these survivors on a deeper level. As we follow their journey through this post-apocalyptic world, we can’t help but root for their survival.

The Ones Who Live is a definite must-watch for fans of The Walking Dead franchise. With its stellar performances, expert storytelling, and heart-pounding action sequences, this spinoff delivers everything we love about this world while offering something new and exciting.

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live was created for AMC by Scott M. Gimple, Danai Gurira and Andrew Lincoln. It is set after the conclusion of the original The Walking Dead series, with Lincoln, Gurira and Pollyanna McIntosh reprising their roles, and is the sixth spin-off and overall seventh television series in The Walking Dead franchise.

The Walking Dead television franchise is based on the comic books series created by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard that ran 192 issues at Image Comics.

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live debuted February 25, 2024 on AMC and the full six-episode season is available on AMC+.
