There is supposed to be something wrong with Patrick Todd, but we see nothing wrong with the first issue of writer Ed Brisson and artist Gavin Guidry new series.
There’s Something Wrong with Patrick Todd premiere issue dropped July 6 in local comic book shops and came out swinging with a strong start.
The book feels like a superhero book at moments with a dash of telepathy and mind control mixed into a horror comic. As pages turn the There’s Something Wrong with Patrick Todd just surprised us all over again with adding more intrigue and story.
Superhero books are not easy to create outside the big two publishers of Marvel and DC Comics with the little exceptions. However, Patrick Todd is enough of a horror book mixed with superpowers to give it a different feel and the ability to draw you into reading more.
Some might find it odd that we don’t know much about Patrick Todd in the first issue, but it makes for what could be a great reveal and story in issues two and beyond.
Brisson’s story has great pace that builds mystery and action as you get through the comic book. Guidry’s beautiful artwork, bookend by stellar splash pages, gives you both clean art with the mix of gory pages of murder and horror.
There’s Something Wrong with Patrick Todd is another hit of recent from AfterShock Comics. You can grab the first issue at your LCS or read online via ComiXology.
