Review Overview

Drive Like Hell #1, written by Rich Douek and illustrated by Alex Cormack, takes readers on a wild ride through a world of otherworldly proportions, filled with action, suspense, and horror.

Drive Like Hell #1 tells the story of Bobby Ray, a criminal who is forced to participate in one last job before he can retire and start a new life with his girlfriend Dahlia. However, things take a turn for the worse when Dahlia is shot and killed during their escape. But her death is not the end – she rises from the dead and Bobby finds himself caught up in a battle with supernatural forces.

One of the highlights of this comic is the incredible artwork by Alex Cormack (Breath of Shadows, The Devil That Wears My Face). Cormack has a real talent for creating dark and eerie scenes that perfectly capture the horror elements of the story. His attention to detail in the car chase and crashing scenes is impressive and undoubtedly adds an edge to the story. The art, coupled with the gripping storyline, keeps readers on the edge of their seats throughout the comic.

Rich Douek (Road of Bones, Sea of Sorrows) has crafted a thrilling plot that is both engaging and suspenseful. Another aspect that stands out in Drive Like Hell #1 is the pacing. The story moves quickly, never letting readers get bored or lose interest. Each scene flows seamlessly into the next, building towards a climax that will leave readers wanting more. The comic is a great introduction to the series, and fans of horror and action will undoubtedly be hooked from the first chapter.

Additionally, the lettering by Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou brings the debut issue to completion.

Drive Like Hell #1 is an excellent combination of Rich Douek’s writing and Alex Cormack’s artwork makes for a thrilling ride, filled with action, suspense, and horror. However, the highlight really is Cormack’s artwork…let’s be honest. Drive Like Hell is definitely another outstanding showing from the duo of Douek and Cormack.

Drive Like Hell #1 hits local comic shops on October 25, 2023 from Dark Horse Comics.
