The world has been given numerous adaptations of the 1843 novella by Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol. However, not all live up to the original story.
According to our research there are over 50 adaptations of the story have been released and only about 10-percent are worth watching more than once. The other 40 or so versions can be watched once, if even at all.
Even with all the A Christmas Carol adaptations, it honestly wasn't that difficult for us to pick our top-5 favorite versions.
4. A Christmas Carol (1984)
As a product of the mid-1980s we find this version of A Christmas Carol as the version even if it is not our top pick on this list. George C. Scott as Ebenezer Scrooge is perfect casting and gives the original source material great homage.
Like Disney’s A Christmas Carol, we enjoy this film but it doesn’t usually get a yearly viewing like the top-3 films on this list.
Due to the age of the film, Rotten Tomatoes doesn’t have a critic rating. However, the one review is positive. As for audience rating, A Christmas Carol sits at 75%.
