Trojan #1, from AWA Studios, is fantasy thriller full of wonder and horror in equal measure.
From New York Times bestselling author Daniel Kraus (The Living Dead, TrollHunters) and artist Laci with colors from Marco Lesko and Sal Cipriano on letters, Trojan #1 dropped at your local comic shop on January 4.
Once upon a time, we lived alongside Legends. Creatures of myth. Centaurs, fauns, gorgons, kelpies, gnomes, and more. They were spectacular. Majestic. Powerful. Peaceful. Pure. In comparison, we were ugly. Weak. Warmongering. Rotten. Is it any wonder we could not live alongside them any longer?
After driving these Legends to the fringes of society, an uglier form of mythos takes shape in the form of rumors of live snuff shows for dark web high rollers. When a mysterious young woman, Nessa, enlists the help of a hacker to take a tour of the grisliest corners of the Dark Web, she sets in motion a war between those who peddle to mankind’s darkest fantasies and a world that transcends imagination.
Kraus and Laci don’t hold much back in this dark mature rated comic book from AWA. The exploration of the dark web with violence, torture, death and more in the debut issue gives us all we need to know in this new series.
As fans of Kraus and his novel work we were pulled in from the start, but the work of Laci between the pages of this comic book was got us hooked. Their artwork gives Kraus’ words more meaning and a deeper feeling.
The creators allow us to be invested in the main characters, but also allow for some brutal depictions. We are in for this issue and more, thats for sure.
Be sure to swing by your LCS and pickup a copy of Trojan #1 from AWA. The debut issue features covers from Jeff Dekal, Mike Deodato, Jr. and Lee Loughridge.
Kraus joins the Capes and Tights Podcast for Episode 76 on January 18 to discuss Trojan, Year Zero, Vol. 0 and more!
