U & I stands out as a wonderful addition to the Resistance Universe. Written by J. Michael Straczynski (Thor), with artwork by Mike Choi, this series focuses on an unlikely love story that unfolds amidst a chaotic and violent world.
The story centers around U, a mysterious character who has no memory of his past but possesses incredible powers after the Great Death that wiped out many lives and created superpowered beings known as Reborns. U sees the world in a different light than most people, full of beauty and hope. In search of a purpose, he meets Isabelle, whose father died during the plague and was recently thrown out to live in the streets by her uncle.
As U tries to find his place in this new world, he discovers that Isabelle is more than just someone to help him find meaning. A spark is ignited between them, leading to an unexpected love story that’s both tender and thrilling at the same time.
However, their happiness is short-lived when U runs afoul of a crime syndicate that seeks revenge against him. The ensuing conflict is brutal and intense, with gruesome violence in all the right places. It’s clear that Straczynski knows how to write compelling action scenes that keep readers on the edge of their seats.
What makes U & I #1 stand out even more is Choi’s stunning artwork. The illustrations are detailed and stunning, giving each panel a cinematic feel. The characters are beautifully illustrated, conveying emotions through facial expressions and body language.
U & I #1 is great read for fans who love stories that are both thrilling and romantic. The writing by Straczynski is engaging, and Choi’s artwork is breathtaking. The love story between U and Isabelle is touching, while the action scenes are intense and gruesome.
