A Christmas Story Christmas Captures Nostalgic Holiday Spirit

If you are looking for more of A Christmas Story, nostalgia, and a new Christmas movie then A Christmas Story Christmas is the perfect film for you.

The family comedy A Christmas Story Christmas is the long-awaited follow-up to annual holiday favorite, A Christmas Story. This time, Ralphie is all grown up and must deal with Christmas and all that comes with it… as a dad. Peter Billingsley returns to the role that has made kids of all ages anticipate Christmas morning like no other.

A Christmas Story ChristmasA Christmas Story Christmas was directed by Clay Kaytis (The Christmas Chronicles) from a script by Nick Schenk (The Mule, The Judge, Gran Torino), who is also one of the executive producers. Produced by Billingsley and Vince Vaughn along with Legendary’s Cale Boyter and Jay Ashenfelter, Marc Toberoff and Irwin Zwilling. The film is a direct sequel to the 1983 film A Christmas Story.

Billingsley reprises his role as Ralphie Parker alongside Ian Petrella, Scott Schwartz, R. D. Robb, and Zack Ward returning as Randy Parker, Flick, Schwartz, and Scut Farkus, respectively. Additionally Erinn Hayes, River Drosche, and Julianna Layne play Ralphie’s wife and kids, with Julie Hagerty acting in the role of Mrs. Parker.

A Christmas Story Christmas is never going to live up to its predecessor, as the original film is one of the most popular and rated Christmas movies of all-time. However, the sequel gives the right amount of nostalgia and gives you more Ralphie, Randy, Flick, Schwartz, and Scut Farkus which is never a bad thing.

The movie feels well thought out and a worthwhile followup to the original, unlike the 1994 sequel My Summer Story and 2012’s A Christmas Story 2. A Christmas Story Christmas is the worthy sequel we all have wanted since 1983 and captures the same spirit and feel as A Christmas Story with nostalgia, but still delivers something new.

If you avoid the temptation to needlessly compare the two films and just enjoy the well made warm family Christmas comedy it is, you will not be disappointed. A Christmas Story will never be matched a lot of fans eyes and that is okay. The sequel can be not as goods the original, but still be good.

A Christmas Story Christmas is streaming exclusively on HBO Max (as of November 17).
