Quinn Maybrook is back with a vengeance in Clown in a Cornfield 3: The Church of Frendo, the third installment in Adam Cesare’s Bram Stoker award-winning Clown in a Cornfield series.
Quinn has just survived yet another bloody run-in with the murderous clown Frendo, but somehow still she knows this won’t be the last. Tired of being hunted and seeing innocent people hurt, Quinn believes the only way to beat the horror is to take justice into her own hands–and stop the Frendo followers herself. Little does she know that this path will take her across cornfields and state lines, to where she will have to face the most dangerous and bloody menace yet: True believers.
After first meeting Quinn Maybrook in summer of 2020 we have been fascinated with her journey as a protagonist and final girl. Her journey has been extremely difficult and filled with blood and gore, but she has grown so much and we are here for every moment. In Clown in a Cornfield 3: The Church of Frendo, Quinn grapples with her own inner demons and struggles and is back for vengeance in a battle against Frendo that she knows likely won’t be her last.
The characters in Clown in a Cornfield 3: The Church of Frendo are well developed, but we find ourselves missing characters such as Cole, Rust and those featured in the first two books. Of course, as the series progresses, not all characters can be included for many reasons and this is not something we cannot hold against this novel. Cesare does show once again that he really knows how to write for Quinn and we are 100% here for more of that. Additionally, we miss the original Kettle Springs, but understand where Adam took this book and why.
Clown in a Cornfield 3: The Church of Frendois intense and fast-paced with plenty of action and gore. Cesare does a wonderful job building suspense and intrigue to keep us glued to the pages, not wanting to put the book down.
While this third installment in the Clown in a Cornfield series falls just short of the the predecessors, nothing is going to be like reading the debut outing for the very first time, Adam Cesare once again proves he is a force to be reckoned with in the young adult horror genre. He pushes the limits of what can be contained in a young adult novel and gives us a book that truly is for young adults and adults alike.
Clown in a Cornfield 3: The Church of Frendo is a thrilling installment in the Adam Cesare’s award-winning series. While nothing will likely ever live up to Clown in a Cornfield, this book still delivers on many levels serving another piece of the saga and creating a well-rounded book series. Where will the story take us in the future?
