Early this week we were given the release date for Marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion on Disney+, but now the studio has revealed a series poster and official trailer.
The series will debut as a limited series on June 21, 2023 and was created by Kyle Bradstreet. It is intended to be the ninth television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Secret Invasion sees Samuel L. Jackson reprising his role as Nick Fury from the film series, along with Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, Kingsley Ben-Adir as Gravik, Emilia Clarke as G’iah, Olivia Colman as Sonya Falsworth, Martin Freeman as Everett K. Ross, and Don Cheadle as James “Rhodey” Rhodes.
Additionally, Dermot Mulroney is expected to appear as United States President Ritson, while Killian Scott, Christopher McDonald, Carmen Ejogo, and Charlayne Woodard have been cast in undisclosed roles.
The series will consist of six episodes, directed by Thomas Bezucha and Ali Selim. The duo will either split the episodes evenly, or one will direct four episodes and the other two.
The forthcoming series is based on the comic book story arc by the same name created by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Leinil Francis Yu. The comic arc is on of my favorite story arcs of all-time. Secret Invasion will be part of the fifth phase of the MCU and is in continuity of the cinematic universe.
