The 2nd Annual Galacticon Throwback Comic Show takes place this coming Saturday, May 31 in Brewer, Maine. The FREE, one-day comic show is presented by Galactic Comics and Collectibles and Capes & Tights features modern comics, vintage comics, graded comics, bargain comics, toys, comic creators and more.
Galacticon was created to showcase their love for the world of comics and the creators who make them. It is a single-day event with a focus on comics, comic creators, and comic shops. This show is different from the current multi-day pop-culture conventions that have become commonplace and feature celebrity guests, photos ops, and vendors of all shapes and sizes. It is a return to the early days of comic book shows when comic books and their creators were at the forefront. There is always a place in our geek world for pop-culture conventions, but Galacticon adds more to the scene.
The 2nd annual event is set for May 31, at the Brewer Auditorium and will once again be completely FREE. It is a celebration of the impact comics, and their creators have had on our world. Young and old comic enthusiasts from all over Maine and beyond, are welcome to participate in the event.
This year’s comic show features over 50 vendor tables including The Briar Patch, Buzz Comics, B and J Comics, Enterprize Comics, Outta Space Comics, Kaveman Vintage Toys, Winterport Comics, and of course Galactic Comics and Collectibles, plus many more. While there will be a limited number of TCG vendors, the focus at Galacticon ensures that the show remains primarily about comic books.
Galacticon 2025 features out-of-state comic creators Christopher Golden and Clay McLeod Chapman in addition to a number of Maine creators.
Golden is a New York Times bestselling author known for novels The Night Birds, The House of Last Resort, Ararat, Road of Bones and more. In the world of comics, Golden has written comics such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Mortal Terror, Hellboy in Love, Sons of Anarchy, and even the Waterworld comic book sequel Waterworld: Children of the Leviathan.
Chapman is the author of books including Wake Up and Open Your Eyes, The Remaking, What Kind of Mother, Ghost Eaters, and more! Chapman has written comics such as Venom, Scream: Curse of Carnage, Typhoid Fever, Origins, Lazaretto, Self Storage, Extreme Venomverse, and more! The collected edition of Clay’s latest comic series, Seance in the Asylum, will be released EARLY at Galacticon four-days before street date. Copies will be available for purchase exclusively from The Briar Patch’s table, don’t miss it.
