Local Man #1 is a new superhero crime noir comic book from the dream team Tony Fleecs (Stray Dogs) and Tim Seeley (Revival, Hack/Slash) that gives you 1990s Image Comics vibes.
Once the star recruit of the media sensation super-team Third Gen, Jack Xaver had it all. But when controversy sends Crossjack crawling back to his mom and dad’s basement in the Midwest, Jack struggles to fit into a world he left far behind. And then the bodies start piling up.
As said many times before, it can be a tall him to climb when creating a superhero comic outside of the big two publishers of Marvel and DC Comics. However, when done right they are superb and that is exactly what Local Man is from Seeley and Fleecs. The perfect amount of the business side of superhero life, mixed with a down and out character and a 1990s Image Comics vibe makes Local Man a smash hit success in our book.
While most stories in the world of superheroes can be based in a large city such as New York, Local Man sees Jack Xaver in his small midwest hometown of Farmington. Each issue is a classic Image Comics Flip Book with a lead story drawn by Fleecs and a superhero flashback into the depths of the Image Universe drawn by Seeley.
We were hooked on picking up this debut issue no matter what when we saw the names of Fleecs and Seeley attached to the book and after reading the debut issue we are glad we did.
Local Man #1 hit shelves at your local comic shop on February 22, 2022. The debut issue features variant covers from Seeley and Marat Mychaels in addition to the main cover. First issue contains 30 pages of story for only $3.99!
Fleecs joined the Capes and Tights Podcast for Episode 36 to discuss Stray Dogs, but will return alongside Seeley for Episode 96 in early April to discuss their new series and much more!
