This debut issue of IDW Publishing’s Kill More by writer Scott Bryan Wilson and artist Max Alan Fuchs is not for the faint of heart.
It’s a story about a city in economic collapse, where the homicide rate is skyrocketing. But it’s not just regular crime that’s happening, it’s a group of the most depraved killers in the country moving in and taking advantage of the chaos. As two detectives try to solve the cases, they find themselves in the crosshairs of the very people they’re trying to catch.
First and foremost, it’s important to note that the design of this comic book is top-notch. From the cover art to the interior layout, everything is well-planned and executed. It’s clear that a lot of thought went into how the story should be presented visually. And it pays off. The images are striking and eye-catching, drawing you into the story before you even read a word.
Speaking of the story, Scott Bryan Wilson has done it again. He’s got a reputation for writing crazy and unconventional stories (check out TRVE KVLT), and Kill More #1 is no exception. The way he weaves the plot together is impressive, keeping you on the edge of your seat at all times. And the characters he’s created are intriguing, each with their own quirks and motivations. You can tell he put a lot of effort into crafting them.
But what really makes this comic book come together is Max Alan Fuchs’ artwork. It’s simply stunning. His style is unique and bold, with each panel bursting with detail. He doesn’t shy away from depicting violence or gore, but it never feels gratuitous. It’s all in service to the story, and it works incredibly well.
As you read through the pages of Kill More #1, you can’t help but be swept up in the madness of it all. The killers in this city are truly twisted, and they’re not afraid to show it. Lady Facesmasher, The Sufferer, and The Obituary Machine are just a few of the names you’ll come across, and they’ll give you chills. But the detectives aren’t exactly normal either. They have their own baggage and secrets, adding another layer of complexity to the story.
Kill More #1 is a wild ride from start to finish, with impressive artwork and a story that will keep you guessing. Scott Bryan Wilson and Max Alan Fuchs have created something special here, and I can’t wait to see where they take the story next. Just be prepared to journey into the mouth of madness.
Kill More #1 hits local comic shops on September 13, 2023 from IDW Publishing.
