Paul Eaton of Galactic Comics and Collectibles returns for another episode of Capes and Tights. Paul and Justin Soderberg discuss variant covers this time around.
In comic books, a variant cover refers to an issue of a comic book with a different cover than the main, “official” cover for the book. Some variants are simple as a second or third cover readily available to everyone. Other variants are 1:10, 1:25, etc., or even one-per-store. Meaning, the store purchasing comics from the distributor would have to purchase 25 copies of a book (1:25) to receive a single issue of that variant.
Paul and Justin discuss the benefits of variant covers for both the local comic shop, publishers and collectors.
