The Marvel Cinematic Universe fifth phase will kick-off on February 23, 2023 with the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the third installment in the Ant-Man series.
The Marvel Studios San Diego Comic-Con panel on Saturday night officially revealed Jonathan Majors as Kang The Conquerer, previously only known as “He Who Remains” from Loki season one. Majors was welcomed with cheers from the crowd and the excitement was palpable.
This information was slightly behind with the first illustrated poster for Quantumania being released by Andy Park, Marvel Studios Director of Visual Development, via Twitter moments before the panel. Kang is seen in the top left corner, clearly portrayed by Majors.
Kang appearing in Quantumania was no surprise as this was rumored to be happening for while, but Saturday night confirmed this and confirmed He Who Remains as Kang.
Kevin Feige, President at Marvel Studios and Chief Creative Officer at Marvel, also revealed M.O.D.O.K. (Mental/Mobile/Mechanized Organism Designed Only for Killing) will make an appearance in Quantumania. It is unknown in what capacity or who will portray the character. Rumors have previously swirled the internet of M.O.D.O.K.’s appearance in the film with Corey Stoll (Ant-Man, House of Cards) attached.
It was all but confirmed Bill Murray will also appear in Quantumania in an undisclosed role.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will be joined by Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (May 5, 2023), The Marvels (July 28, 2023), Blade (November 3, 2023), Captain America: New World Order (May 3, 2024), and Thunderbolts (July 26, 2024) as Phase 5 of the MCU.
